SRVS Awarded $15,000 by First Tennessee
Foundation
APRIL 2008
We are proud to continue our partnership with First Tennessee. This
year, SRVS was awarded $15,000 by the First Tennessee Foundation.
The money is vitally important to our agency, especially during this
time of funding cuts. SRVS plans to use these funds to "Open Doors
and Realize Dreams" in the KAC, SOS, Community Living, Employment
Concepts, Community Participation and Family Support.

Today:
SRVS supports more than 800 individuals with
developmental disabilities through a variety of programs
which include a day activity center, residential living
program, occupational workshop, job coaching and
placement, family support, personal assistance and a
community participation program. Other support services
include service coordination, behavior supports,
medication administration, therapy services and
nursing services. In
2002, SRVS recognized that the board and administration
needed to be strengthened and applied with the
Grant
Center to be a part of the
Program for Nonprofit Excellence (PNE).
SRVS was accepted into this three-year pilot
program and graduated in 2005.
Together with SRVS staff, consultants from the
Grant Center (now the
Alliance
for Nonprofit Excellence) focused on charting five
essential areas for change within the agency:
Governance, Public Relations and Development,
Fundraising, Finance and Strategic Planning.
It was an enormous undertaking that gave SRVS a
greater sense of direction and excellence.
Future Goals:
SRVS is focusing future plans on an aggressive
initiative entitled Tomorrow’s PossABILITIES Today!
which is a part of the three-year strategic plan of
developing a comprehensive day center and combining
administrative buildings into one campus. SRVS has a
long reputation as a leader in the developmental
disability field, but has yet to take its role in the
community-at-large. Through this initiative, SRVS hopes
to move towards that goal: helping to broaden the
possibilities for people with developmental disabilities
in the community as well as the individuals currently
served.
