For the fourth consecutive year, Playhouse on the Square (POTS) hosted a benefit performance for SRVS on July11.  More than 400 SRVS supporters gathered at the new theatre to celebrate the kick-off of the 12th Annual Spirit of SRVS: A Taste of the Good Life, and watch the crowd pleasing, eight-time Tony Award winning musical, Hairspray.  In keeping with the theme of the musical, guests were treated to local singing sensation, The Bouffants, appetizers by the Beauty Shop restaurant, and staff dressed in 60s attire!  A cake of a head adorned by a can of hairspray, courtesy of Cakes by RiRi, had everyone scrambling for a peak before it was eaten.  It was hard to stop the music and dancing as guests were ushered into the theatre for the unveiling of the Spirit of SRVS commemorative artwork by local artist NJ Woods. Woods described the meaning behind her painting a tree of hearts and circle of children as, “symbolic of the love we all should have for one another and for our community.”  SRVS Executive Director Jeffrie Bruton, board member Anne Wesberry and Spirit of SRVS Event Co-Chairs Dr. and Mrs. David Kimler were on hand to unveil Woods’ painting and thank the artist and sponsors of the event which included the Beauty Shop Restaurant, The Bouffants, Cakes by Riri, Fringe Hair Co., Mercury Valet and Southwestern Distributing which provided a wine tasting.  Thank you to all our guests and supporters for making this the most successful benefit to date.  It was a sold out performance with many more attendees who showed up for the festivities and kick-off.  All ticket proceeds from the performance, including cash donations and sales from our commemorative poster, note cards and tickets to the Spirit of SRVS, will support SRVS day center as we double the number of people served in our new building through our Building Dreams capital campaign.
