10th Annual Spirit of SRVS Nets $98,000
August
23 at Hilton Memphis
In keeping with the
Olympic spirit of competition and excellence, the Tenth
Annual
Spirit of SRVS Auction
Affair set the gold medal standard for all auctions on
August 23 as 700 people attended the extravagant yet elegant
fundraiser at the Hilton Memphis. The premiere city-wide
auction event net more than $98,000 for SRVS' programs and
services.
Dr. Fred and Anne Wesberry were the
event's honorary co-chairs. Event co-chairs were Petra
Rees, President of Impact Coaching and Consulting, and
Thomas Schmitt, President and CEO of FedEx Global Supply
Chain Services. WMC-TV news anchor, Joe Birch,
returned as emcee and auctioneer.
Guests were treated to a tantalizing
array of food, fun and entertainment which included tastings
of wine or beer represented by more than 40 wineries or
breweries, or several different types of appetizers prepared
by Memphis' finest restaurants and caterers. Mid-South
artist Lori Butler's commemorative artwork was up for bid
along with hundreds of eclectic auction items, ranging from
a dinner for two with Coach Calipari, to a beach house
getaway for 12 people.
Pianist Eddie
Harrison's vast repertoire of songs equally satisfied
everyone's musical taste buds and the Company d Dancers
debuted a dance sequence which they will perform in New York
in honor of the National Down Syndrome Association's Buddy
Walk. For the very fist time, the
Spirit of SRVS event
featured a solo performance by a SRVS individual, Rickey
Frazier.
On behalf of our staff and service recipients, thank you to
our co-chairs, sponsors, donors and volunteers for making
this event a success.
