Classroom Concepts

  • Increase precision of grasp using writing tools
  • Introduce letters of the alphabet
  • Connect written letters to sounds they make
  • Recognize written name
  • Scribble and draw with a purpose
  • Begin to write their name
  • Begin to use scissors
  • Demonstrate eye-hand coordination through exploration and manipulation of objects
  • Introduce early math concepts, such as counting and number/shape identification
  • Learn basic colors, Increase development of gross motor skills, i.e. kick a ball while maintaining balance, agility in simple climbing tasks
  • Increase self-help skills, including mastery of toilet training and sanitary routines
  • Participate in group activities
  • Develop ability to work independently
  • Acquire capacity to cooperatively play with other children
  • Understand and follow basic safety rules

8:30-9 a.m. Arrival
9:15 a.m.  Circle time/story time
9:45 a.m. Snack
10:05 a.m. Work time
10:30 a.m.  Gross motor activity
11:15 a.m.  Art/music and movement
12 p.m. Lunch (half day children dismissed)
12:30 p.m. Nap time
2 p.m. Story time/outside play
2:30 p.m. Dismissal
